Theme Thursday Challenge

My first challenge entry ever!

Theme Thursday challenge is pink and brown. I made an altered tag, 'The Tree Hugger'. Background is done with dry brush acrylic paint, then gesso, then oil pastels. Stamp from Technique Tuesday, image from, piece of pink heart doily, pink mulberry paper, German scrap from

Peace - and keep huggin' those trees :)

ATC Storage Box

As my collection of ATC's and other small art pieces begins to grow, I have seen a number of different options available. I want the items to be easily available to look at, as I think all of this should be shared as often as possible! I decided to do a small box that could be kept on my coffee table. Hopefully it looks inviting and sparks curiosity. I'll get back to you about that ;)

I covered all sides with scrapbook paper from Anna Griffin, Rita Marie & Co, and MAMBI. Applied a color glaze using Apple Barrel Wedgewood Green, then rubbed in Birdwing Copper Pearlescent acrylic (LOVE THIS) with a baby wipe. Embroidered ribbon from Offray, embellished green button brad by K & Co, paper flowers from Prima, jewels from value pack at Michael's.

This was fun, I'm sure I'll do some other boxes/containers. All ready have a couple in mind....

Art on Canvas

I was in Michael's one day and noticed they sell pre-gesso'd board canvases in several sizes. I looked at these for a long time, closely inspecting the surface and the various sizes. I have NO idea what was going thru my head during this process, but I bought a 3-pack of the 5 x 7 size. Three months ago it would never have dawned on me to work on canvas.

Today I made this piece for the gentleman who made the beautiful work counter in the salon. I wanted to thank him and at the same time show him how great this workspace is for me.

"Merci Beucoup (sp?) from me to you" uses background paper from 7 gypsies, painted over with acrylic paint. The quote is also from 7 gypsies, a set of awesome stickers about life. Chipboard buttons are from making memories; rub on letter from Basic Grey, onto Heidi Swapp burgundy chipboard circle. The Eiffel Tower metal pieces are from ??, didn't write it down :(. Fibers are from Adornments.

Another Music-themed ATC

I have been playing around with different background techniques and made another music-themed ATC today. Fun!

'Set your life to music' uses scrapbook paper bg, given a color glaze, collage image from Lisa's Altered Art, border stamps from Impression Obsession, embossing powder from Bmuse, music note stamp by Technique Tuesday, and the 'wand' is from Decorative Details beaded fringe from the craft store!

Have been busy!!

Last week I finished 15 4 x 4 chunky book pages for my altered art group !! The images will be posted here after the deadline for submission passes.

In the meantime....

I tried a new background technique yesterday, from the 'Artist Trading Card Workshop' by Bernie Berlin. LOVE THAT BOOK! I have a photo here of one of the results, then used it as background for an ATC.

'Let It Be' is for a trade with a music theme. Embossing powder is from Bmuse, stamp from Inque Boutique, butterfly is from a set of decoupage paper, Sakura Pen Touch permanent marker.

Masterboard #1

In the magazine 'Take Ten' there is a section called Masterboard. Basically it is a section featuring background papers that have beeb created and then used as elements in cards. The "master" is made by layering color and graphics on the page, and then color copies are made for use in the cards, etc.

ANYWAY on a wild Friday night not too long ago, I decided to give it a go. Here's what I came up with, and what I have done with it thus far...

On a roll

I can't seem to stop my creative head, heart, and hands ~ so I'm going with it!

NewATC. "Spring".

Background is painted using crackle medium; pattern tissue overlay. Iron scroll stamps from Limited Edition RS, fleur-de-lis brad from Creative Impressions, fibers from On the Surface, flower bouquet by Anna Griffin. Inks from Colorbox & Ancient Page. Font is LD Libretto.

I love the French sensibility I got here - and the colors are an exact match to the colors my actual 'Paris Salon' is painted ;)

C'est bon!

These ATC's are fun!

My next ATC, "Elements of Life".

Painted background, using crackle medium. Molecule image from, metal word from 7 gypsies, other letter embellishments from sticko, Heidi Swapp. Number tag is from K & Co, font is LD Underwood. Photo is one of my babies :).

This was a lot of fun to make. When I began this all I knew was that I would include a number somehow; I ended up using some of my chemistry!

My blog is up and running!
Feel free to drop in anytime, and comment on what you see and read here. Paper art is the theme here ~ from card-making to rubber stamping to ATC's and beyond. I seem to be in a 'creative' explosion of sorts. Enjoy the images and comment in a kind way please!
Peace :)
