Spring Fairies for Extreme Inchies Swap

Hola everyone :)

One of my Yahoo groups is holding an extreme inchies swap, with the theme 'Hint of Spring'. These extreme inchies are different from moos - they are about twice as long as they are wide (moos are nearly a 3:1 ratio).

Here are my 'Spring Fairies'. All backgrounds are painted with either Derwent Inktense water pencil or craft acrylic mixed with Liquitex Iridescent Medium. I painted Twinkling H2Os over each card. Bottlecaps are all painted with Tim Holz Alcohol Ink (HINT: WEAR GLOVES :) and lined with gift tissue. Edges of caps and cards are glittered with Crayola Glitter Glue. Fairy face is a stamp from Inkadinkadoo; stamped with blck StazOn on vellum. Wings are all from Lisa's Altered Art.

'Poor, dear, silly Spring, preparing her annual surprise!

Peace.

ATC with acetate

I have been fooling around for several days with transparency film. I have been wanting to do this for awhile but was jolted forward by the current TGIF challenge.

I made this ATC with an acetate overlay. The background began as aptterned paper which was color glazed, stamped, and further colored with oil pastel. The acetate is stamped with black StazOn, stamp is by Stampington. Brass foil tape arounf the edges, fringe by Decorative Details.

Peace.

TGIF ~ Acetate

The current challenge at Thank God It's Friday is to use acetate in our entry. I have not really used it before so I was excited about this!

I bought some blank acetate at Staples and played with printing from my computer as well as inking and stamping on it. This is really fun and so versatile :)

I made an ATC, 'Devotion'. The face and fram are stamped with black StazOn on the acetate. Face stamp is from I Brake for Stamps, frame from Basic Grey. The background of the card began as patterned paper, which was color glazed and stamped with bubble wrap in Antique Gold. Zig zags are a STAMP from AdornIt (no sewing machine here!), border stamp by Hero Arts. Butterfly is from a scrap collection that is old.

Thanks for looking! Peace.

TGIF ~ Monogram

"Monogram" is this week's challenge for Thank God It's Friday. Several ideas sifted through my head before I got to this one.

'R is for RED' is 8 x 8, just the right size for this collage. This piece is nearly all cut and glued paper, except for a few embellishments that I could not resist ;) Background paper is from Chatterbox. I glued it down and sanded it. All images are cut from magazines! Flourishes are paper that I ran through my Revolution die cut machine. Chipboard letter and ampersand by Provo Craft, red acrylic tag by Heidi Grace, Jewels by Me and My Big Ideas, heart brad from ?. Edges inked with Color Petal from Colorbox.

Hope you like this; I LOVE red and this was a fun piece to do.

Peace.

Vintage Moos

'Vintage' is the theme for Make a Moo or Two this week. I went slightly moo crazy with this one!

All moos are on watercolor background, using Derwent Inktense pencils. All collage images are from Tuscan Rose. Upper row of moos use stamp from Stampington, stamped in black Staz On. Mulberry paper is old and originally sold as gift tissue. Eyelets are from Eyelets Etc and fibers are from my collection. The lower 3 moos use a stamp from Inkadinkadoo, brads from JoAnn Essentials and Creative Impressions, and flowers from Prima. Crayola Glitter Glue also used.

Peace.

Clock face stamp from Art Impressions, letters from Hero Arts, all done with black Staz On. Ivory Magic Mesh painted with Twinkling H2Os. Collage images from Lisa's Altered Art. Nest made from Hand Dyed Hobbies fibers. Heidi Grace rub 0n flourishes. Gold paint accents and edging are glossy gold Liquitex.

ATC for Group Swap

My online Altered Art group has an ATC swap going on with an 'open' theme. When I was thinking about what I'd do the first thing that came to mind is all the great friends I have made in this group! So I wanted to pay a bit of tribute to those friendships.

'Fun with Friends' is done on watercolor painted with Derwent Inktense waterolor pencils - these are wonderful! Collage images are from digitalcollagesheets.com and Lisa's Altered Art. Stamp is from a set by Hero Arts, ink is Cranberry Pigment by Colorbox. I used UTEE clear to emboss and distress the whole thing. There's some oil pastel in the background too!

Cheers to all my friends!

Theme Thursday ~ Stripes

Stripes are the focus of this week's Theme Thursday. I made this piece - not a skinny, not a 4 x 4, not an ATC - which measures 5" x 6". Just seemed like the right fit for what I wanted to do.

The striped background paper is OLD and I don't know the source; I glued it down and sanded the heck out of it. Used Cranberry Colorbox Pigment Ink DTP on edges. Stamp is a Tim Holz image from Stamper's Anonymous, done with Staz-On Timber Brown. The watercolor paper was painted previously with Derwent Inktense Water Pencil. Flowers are by Anna Griffin, and the '5' is from Heidi Grace.

I was thinking about things we used to find in my Grandma Clarke's shoeboxes:)

Peace.

House Built by Mother Nature

In my online Altered stART group we have monthly lotteries, and we are asked to create a small piece of art around a theme. The current theme is 'Celebrate Earth', in honor of Earth Day.

'Built by Mother Nature' started as something entirely different in my head. I have wanted to make a house-shaped piece for awhile now, and as I began turning over this theme in my mind, I began to see a house! The background is my first venture into the emboss resist technique described by Bernie Berlin in her book "Artist Trading Card Workshop". Paints used were from Folk Art, Liquitex, and Daler-Rowney (pearlescent copper - awesome). Stamps from Anna Griffin, Inque Boutique, Inkadinkadoo, and Serendipity Stamps. Gold beads and copper leaf bead are from Provo Craft. Fibers are from Hand Dyed Hobbies.

Hope you like this! Peace.

Just slightly out of control...

Somebody once said my workbench was so tidy! I think I'm going to have to do some serious cleanup, right after I finish these tags!

Now where are my scissors???

The Bird Party

Recently my online Altered Art group had a 'Spring 'theme chunky book swap/collaboration. We were to create 4 x 4 pages with a spring theme, the only restriction being not to use stickers. I don't seem to use many stickers these days anyway, don't know what's up with that as I have many and I do like them?!

I had never made 4 x 4's prior to this, and for awhile my muse was asleep as to what to do. Then she woke up! She helped me come up with some fantasy birds, for lack of a better term. I created the birds, the phrases, and the 'party' settings. Before I knew it I had 15 different birds!

I am posting 5 of them here. The backgrounds are (mostly) crumpled tissue, birds use paper scraps from various sources, bird legs are from a stamp set by Stampendous, glitter is from Crayola glitter glue pens (!! SCORE !!), and embellishments vary.

Hope you like these birds, they are VERY FUN to create, and they will return in various guises.

Peace ;)

Theme Thursday~Cherish

This week's challenge at Theme Thursday is to incorporate the word 'Cherish'.

I made an ATC, 'No Limits'. Background paper from Chatterbox, flourishes are stamps from Hero Arts and Autumn Leaves. Child with dog image is a Tim Holz stamp from Alpha Stamps :). Inks are from Hero Arts and Memory Chalk Ink. I colored the child stamp with chalks and used Krylon Matte Finish to set it. Ribbon is Wraphia and the slide is from Maya Road. Cherish definition is a sticker from Making Memories. Hope you like this !

Peace.

Scorchin' Saturday

Well everyone it's not even 9 a.m. and the temp is all ready somewhere close to 80...around here this can mean only one thing: an excellent day for a BATH (for the dog, that is). Yes our truly California dog, whose teeth chatter when the temp dips below 65, who has a HEATING PAD under her mighty royal dog bed (thanks to DH who is a total marshmallow when it comes to all creatures great and small), who does not have fur but actually some sort of nasty pig hair hide, and who, at this time, has an odor that brings to mind a wheel of Parm, is cleaning up her act today.

Please don't let Samantha's (aka Girlfriend, Baby) cuteness fool you...NOBODY washes the face.

Peace and stay cool.

TGIF - Blue & Green

New Thank God It's Friday challenge is to focus on blue and green. I happen to have recently gotten some transparent playing cards which I've been playing with.

'Retro Revolution' is a 4 x 4 using one of the cards. The paper behind the card, as well as for the dress, are OLD and I have no idea where they came from now!! Stamp is from a great Dawn Hauser set by Inkadinkadoo; flower from a value pack of jewels from Michael's. Brads are made by JoAnn essentials. Rub-on from American Crafts. I made the label in Word. Ink is by Ancient Page.

Peace.

Skinny Saturday

Hope I'm not too late to play in the Skinny Saturday challenge this week, with an OPEN theme.

Here's my entry, hope you like it!

'Spring Cup' uses paper from K & Co, cup from an old set of ME diecuts (Wallies), fine Sharpie, Zig writer, chipboard letter from K & Co, brads from Creative Impressions and Memory Makers. Yummy Tazo green tea recently consumed by moi.

Peace ;)

Out of the Funk

I have been in a funk the past couple of days...not like me. Periodically the whole being unemployed for more than 10 months with no prospects in sight and endless economic doom/gloom news does get to me.

So I decided to make something to cheer myself up!! And it has worked pretty well.

I began altering some CD's earlier this week and then put them aside. Why alter a CD? I don't know, just to see what happens I suppose.

I thought about entering this for Mixed Media Monday but have decided it is not worthy. I do like it though and will hang it here in the salon, to cheer me up.

This is Altered CD #1.

Cheers :)

Natural Beauty

The roses in my backyard are really starting to 'pop'. You just can't beat Mother Nature for wonderful colors and beauty perfected.

Peace and happy spring!

Moo Time

These are the first 'moo' cards ever for me. They are TINY, 2.7 x 7 cm. I've been looking at the Make a Moo or Two challenge and decided to go for it.

The challenge theme is 'Text'. Image on the left is 'Still Learning', the one on the right is 'Still Striving'. All images are from a page from a vintage stamp collecting catalog, focused on stamps of Kuwait. Background on both is stamped, inked, and color glazed. Spectacles are German scrap from collagestuff.com, as is the vintage stamp catalog page (SCORE!). I made the green circles with the gold dove.

Why are they called moos?? Heck if I know.

The images are fom the '70's, and we are still (struggling) to learn about and make peace with this part of the world.

Peace NOW.
