Meet Mr. Fantasy!!

Got your attention, eh?  Hehehehehe.

Really, though, the owl in this painting IS Mr. Fantasy (a la song recorded by Traffic).

This week's challenge at Sunday Postcard Art is OWLS.  I do enjoy working on this postcard size, and had some canvases laying around that are the right size.  I also love OWLS.  Combine this with recent inspiration from Suzan Buckner  , Michelle Allen   , and watching this video from Jesse Reno , and Mr. Fantasy EMERGED from

based upon this calendar owl and becoming the unique

Mr. Fantasy

It was a lot of fun creating him and this is a VERY fun way to paint!!

Summer Glory in the Garden

Welcome to my summer.
Lemons to refresh you.
Turn your head and look to the east.
Walk on a carpet of purple blooms....
that fall from this magical tree.
They soften hard edges.
The path from west to east draws you into the rosebed.
Beauty requires slowing down and savoring.
The gazebo is the place for....
morning coffee, evening quiet, book reading, visiting with birds, bunnies, and, of course,
my summer buddy Samantha { 14 summers together now }.
The flowers are always glad
and waiting for company.

Journal Page with a new twist.........

Here's a page I did the other day, with a lead ~ inspiration-wise ~ Patti Digh's July 21 post at 37 Days Website.  The new twist for me is that I WROTE AN ENTRY on this page!!!!!  Then I mostly covered it up.  I definitely FELT better after I wrote this. AMAZING.  All of this is connected with a difficult family situation currently underway.  The poem on the top ~ printed on vellum ~ is the same one Patti posted on her site.  It leapt off the screen at me.  I've been looking at it EVERYDAY since I first saw it on Thursday.

Workin' on some BIG LOVE here...........

Things that made me happy yesterday!!

New flip-flops!! CLEARANCE price = 97 cents.  NICE.

New uber-sharp scissors for the Salon!!  WOW what a difference these are making all ready........

So what has made YOU happy lately?  Ya gotta make time to note these things, life is far too short not to :)

Kissed by the Sun

Yesterday's Journal page, with lots of inspiration from my garden!!  The page got a little busy for me, but I really enjoyed creating some of these flowers and then placing them around in the garden :)

Still tangled up!

A couple of tangles here for ya!
Dealing with some difficult family issues presently, am slightly distracted here.  I'll try and refocus in the next few days, it's good for me to remain grounded in my art.
Peace :)

The JOY Gang: Original Gangsta Hope

I have decided to create my own gang, The JOY Gang.  Why??  So many of the gangs around that get the publicity are focused upon and practicing such poor behaviors, choices, and lifestyles for not only their members but their families as well.  My gang is focused upon JOY, of course, as well as other positive aspects of this life we live - and the choices we make to get there.

Today I'd like you to meet Original Gangsta HOPE.  HOPE is a key member of this gang because, really, without HOPE there isn't much else left regarding JOY!!  HOPE just popped into my head yesterday and finished revealing herself a short time ago.  She has beautiful colors and is clearly busy, based upon her steps in a forward direction :)  She's having a good time too, and not trying to take anything TOO seriously.  HOPE sometimes sneaks up on us when we might not expect her, but the bells on her shoes do send a signal that she's on the way.  BTW those bells are magical as they play all BEATLES music ;)

HOPE is pleased to meet you and so glad you stopped in today!!  Have a JOYous day!

Journal Page from today

A page I finished today.
Butterflies seemed a good way to speak of emerging.  This is how I feel these days ~ as though I am emerging and breaking free.  It's wonderful!

ADD in Serious Overdrive!!

I can't post without a picture, so here's a page from a couple of weeks ago....

ANYWAY I am working and thinking about so many projects these days!!  Thus far my summer vacation has been very productive, all in a good way.  I can't remember the last time I felt this way....
The current list includes:
  • several art projects underway - some will be revealed at a later time ;)
  • lots of gardening!!
  • socializing with friends
  • organizing new projects and courses for the new school year
  • teaching myself Photoshop Elements (any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated)
  • finishing work for several online art classes - and thinking about starting ANOTHER one
  • preparing to return to school in the fall to complete my Master's degree.....
 I'm enjoying myself immensely though...
What's on your current 'to-do' list??

Monday, July 5, 2010

I've been trying my hand at zentangles and am getting into it.  It's very relaxing and great for me in front of the TV ~ that way I can be with DH AND doing art at the same time ;0)
I don't know if these are true zentangles since I aften feel compelled to add an additional color besides the black.... I just love color!!
Hope all of you are having a wonderful Monday.......

Journal page

I'm really focusing on the words 'BE HERE NOW'.
Anyone else out there have difficulty focusing on that??
This page used some images pulled from my scrap stash, a printed transparency that I cut down and it became a PERFECT FIT in every way :) ~ love that ~ chipboard button covered in paint and a little sparkle ** and the 'C' circle from a set by Graphic 45.
Now I'm off to BE HERE NOW so I can CHERISH THE MEMORIES that result from it.  I wish the same for you!

Mixed Media Piece

Here's a piece I made for a student of mine.  He showed so much growth and positive change through the year, I couldn't help myself.  He also painted 2 incredible murals for us at school!

The cardboard idea was fueled largely by watching Sharon's video over at All Norah's Art .  Go visit with her, you'll be truly amazed and inspired by her lovely blog posts.  Check out her morning video section too!
